So, let\u2019s talk about cheap ink pads from the Action<\/a> store. In this case I\u2019m talking about an Avec<\/a> ink pads and stamp set (\u20ac2,69).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I bought a set of 12 pastel colored beautiful nice-looking heart shaped ink pads which come with 6 wood rubber stamps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avec stamps that promised 12 hues of heart-shaped happiness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let me just preface this by saying I walked in with high hopes and a wallet full of misplaced optimism. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I mean, 12 pastel-colored ink pads for practically no money? That\u2019s either a bargain or a warning label in disguise, but I chose to see it as destiny. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spoiler: destiny sometimes has terrible taste in crafting supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I got home, I decided to introduce my shiny new stamps to my handcrafted mango-stamp (yes, mango, because sometimes art imitates snack time). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I didn\u2019t further try with the included stamps because, well, there wasn\u2019t a single paint splash that had intentions to stick on the rubber. So it was end of story immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plan was simple: ink, stamp, admire. But these pads had other ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, I tried them dry. Nothing. The stamp didn\u2019t even shrug. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, I gently hydrated them with a few drops of water, like an optimist watering a plastic plant just to see what happens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did that help? Eh, a little. Some colors begrudgingly whispered their presence onto the paper, but most of them just sat there, unimpressed, like, \u201cWhy are you even trying?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be fair, a few colors produced a subtle, soft blend. But subtle wasn\u2019t what I was going for. I wanted bold! Vibrant! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first time I tested them, I didn\u2019t take photos. So the photo I show you now has a white paper with the stamping results after using them only one time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which wasn\u2019t that much of a difference. On white paper the paint and color totally vanishes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You could try on beige paper, which I also did, which resulted in the ink trying to be somewhat visible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using black paper is more or less a desperate solution, but as you can see, the colors are quite similar and don\u2019t stand out as much as their implied hues suggest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Would I buy these stamps again? Absolutely not. Would I give them to a grandchild? Nope and not just because I don\u2019t have any. (Though I might let my cat play with them if she looked particularly bored.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The best I can say is that they\u2019re good for background noise on paper, or maybe for testing your patience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final verdict: 2\/10. Pretty to look at, disappointing in practice; kind of like a beautifully wrapped gift box that\u2019s empty inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
